providing the perfect light. The lights are designed to
draw people into this highly trafficked area. They provide
such a vibrant illumination that people often mistake the
building for a fashion company headquarters. Because
the panels are mirror-finished stainless steel on both the
inside and outside they create daytime sparkle too.
The slot uses the eastern summer wind to create a low
pressure zone along the north face of the building, which
allows natural ventilation of the office space from the
operable windows around the perimeter of the floor.
To maximise the building height within the zoning code,
a large public space is provided on the ground floor.
This public space flows from the street to a courtyard
in the back which is defined by aluminium panels that
graphically recall the curve at the front of the building.
This space provides restaurants, fountains and public
seating in a district with almost no public amenities.
