space while horizontal lighting elements help readers
select books. On the periphery, the illumination of the
reading desks is provided by downlights in the ceiling
whose line follows facade fenestration. The reading
stations are zoned using table luminaires.
The emergency staircases are illuminated by LED
light profiles positioned in exposed concrete recesses.
At the rear walls of the landings the profiles have been
mounted in deeper recesses and generate grazing light
on to the walls.
Entrances are emphasised by directional illumination
from downlight pairs in the vestibule ceilings.
The exterior lighting includes slender, strategically
placed light steles whose rotational symmetric light
distribution illuminates the forecourt area. Near the
facade, the paths are grazed with light from linear
fittings with a narrow beam profile, recessed in the
base of long, outdoor benches. A number of trees
have buried uplights. The interior of a low parapet
enclosing the bicycle parking facility in the adjacent
road is lit with asymmetrical recessed orientation
luminaires for the racks.
