look at the photon as either an embodied photon or a
sterile photon,’ says Carpenter. ‘The embodied photon
comes from sources that are billions of years old, stars
at the outer limits of our universe and their light which
is arriving here today. Electric light has a different
history that is less informative to us as humans or
creatures of the universe.’
‘One point about light that we tend to ignore is that
we are transparent to light. There are portions of the
electromagnetic spectrum that are passing through us
at all times,’ he says. ‘When we think about light we
think about the visual portion of light, but in reality
light is a much broader entity and it is informing us
in ways that we don’t even understand, in unconscious
ways as opposed to the literal way that our eye
constructs information around us.’
